When the Virtualbox microphone doesn't work.

I tried to record on guest Ubuntu 18.x. but It didn't work.

In my case, I ran the Virtualbox on the macOS Catalina.

 

I searched a lot, but there was no solution.

Many solutions said to check the Audio tap in the Virtualbox, but It was not my point.

 

For me, the point of to do is set not only checking "Enable audio input" on the "Audio tap" but also adding a "new USB filter" on the Ports tap.

I was using a Samsung USB Earphone to microphone. So I add that one.

Please check the screenshot.

Make sure you checked the "Enable audio input" option in the Audio tap and added the "USB Device filter" in the Ports tap.

기억을 위해 사족을 붙이자면..

개발한 nodejs 프로젝트를  Ubuntu에서 실행하기 위해서 Virtualbox에 Ubuntu를 설치했는데, 우분투에서 음성인식이 안되는 문제로 오전을 다 보냈다. 개발할땐 항상 그렇듯 환경 설정이 제일 피곤하고 답답하다.

 

다행히 문제를 찾아내서 해결했는데, Virtualbox의 질의응답(?)페이지를 다 뒤졌는데도 찾지 못했다.ㅎㅎ

 

찾게된 경위가 어처구니 없다.

맥미니의 usb c 포트에 이어폰을 껴서 노래를 들으며 업무를 하는데, 가끔 뜨거워져서인지 이어폰에서 노래가 안나오고 갑자기 맥미니에서 나올 때가 있다.

 

그래서 설마 USB포트를 추가하는 탭이 있는 건 아닐까 하고 설정을 확인해봤더니 있었다.

추가했고, 아주 쉽게 연결되었다.ㅠ
